History

 

Barry Sage is an extremely versatile and unique individual, having began his career at the heyday of the 70s music scene, working for some of the greatest artists of all time including The Rolling Stones, Steve Winwood, and many others too numerous to mention here.

Barry started his career at the prestigious Trident Studios, moving to the legendary Island Records owned Basing Street Studios, where he studied his craft alongside and under audio legends like Phill Brown, John Wood, Glynn Johns, Keith Harwood and Chris Kimsey.

It was at Advision Studios, a long term relationship with the Pumacrest Mobile was formed, recording the Grammy Award winning Princes Trust 10th Anniversary Concert, amongst many others, and an introduction to the Spanish music market.

Barry has gone on to produce and engineer many records in Spain and Latin America, to which he continues to date, with new albums from Chileans Nicole and Alamedas this year.

Although having used Pro Tools for many years in music production, advertising, and vocal dubbing, it wasn't until he was contracted to assist restore, edit and mix foreign versions of the prime television series for 20th Century Fox, that he was able to gain full hands on experience. Seven years and over 3000 episodes of The X Files, Buffy, Dark Angel, Futurama, and Ally Mc Beal later, Barry began to have some idea what the system Pro Tools was about. Barry has augmented this experience by completing the Digidesign 210P training programme and is now a Digidesign certified Pro Tools Operator in Post

Along with record production and audio restoration, Barry is also now very active within audio Post Production, and enjoys very much working to picture and in 5.1 Surround. He has completed mixing one feature film and several shorts as Dubbing Mixer this year, along with numerous voice-overs and re versioning jobs, and is very experienced in recording and mixing scores to film, as well as filmed music, and has been involved with advertising and corporate training videos.

Other more unusual production projects include the production of the Cuban based "Beats Working - In Cuba" Virtual Instrument for Zero G and Native Instruments. A software sample player featuring Latin percussion recorded in Havana, Cuba - Conceived and produced by Barry and Schtum Productions. Implemented with the co production of Gonzalo Lasheras.

Barry is currently working freelance for a number of media clients, whilst mixing several music albums. He owns his own record company - Top Manta Music Ltd to distribute South American music in Europe, and has an audio production service which can supply an impressive Pro Tools HD2 equipped system and 5.1 mixing environment for music, film and television.

Barry is also a partner and lecturer of the Spanish audio media educational company "Proaudiotec S.L" teaching Audio Production, Audio for Post Production and official Digidesign Pro Tools 101 and 110 courses.
